Welsh Heritage
My mother was born in Aberdare in 1940. Her first language was Welsh. Her mother and grandmother were also born in Aberdare, and I still have family in Aberdare, Hirwaun and Penderyn.
My 6 times great, grandfather, Samual Oliver was born in Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire in 1793 and was married in Newcastle Emlyn in1800s.
My maternal grandfather, Edward Richard Langdon, grew up in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire and in1916 aged 14 started mining Anthracite at the Bewts Drift Mine in the Amman Valley.
My parents met at Bangor University, lived in Beaumaris, and Bangor and after graduating, were
married in 1962 on Anglesey at St Marys Church,
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch,
overlooking the Menai Straights and lived in Pembroke for a couple of years before emigrating.
